Materials of the conference "EDUCATION AND SCIENCE WITHOUT BORDERS"

THE DISTANT EDUCATION IN STOMATOLOGY

               The distant education (DE) is found its introduction and the further implementation in the educational process [1]. The DE is especially actual in the postgraduate education, where it can be efficiently used the whole range of the telecommunication technologies, including e – mail, videoconferencing, Internet – technologies, and also a wide of the educational services.    

                For all this, DE can and should be combined with the full – time education forms. So, the skills, the mastering of which is quite impossible to be carried out distantly (e.g. especially, having related to be conducted the surgical procedures), it is advisable to be mastered the part of the courses on the full – time basis, and, first of all, – the certification ones, that is determined the feasibility of the combined forms training in the clinical disciplines teaching.          

    So, the main forms of the distant educational services, having used in the stomatology, are the video lectures, video seminars, clinical overview videos, scientific and practical conferences, which can be conditionally called the basic (e.g. non – recurring) tele – educational activities, as well as the thematic improvement courses and the certification courses of the general improvement.   

    The main elements of the educational process at the full – time, on – site, and distant forms of the education at the thematic improvement courses have been made the comparison by us during the study. The carried out analysis has been shown, that, by the majority characteristics, the DE form not only lower, by for some – higher the traditional form of the education (e.g. Table No. 1).

 The distant forms of education are the efficient innovative technologies in the doctors’ and the paramedical staff’s continuous professional education.
