Materials of the conference "EDUCATION AND SCIENCE WITHOUT BORDERS"
We have found that there is materialized sulfur oxide oxidation by oxygen on ultrasonic field in mild conditions (20-30°C) in the presence of cobalt complexes, which immobilized on polyacrylic acid.
Laboratory equipment for researching of sonochemical reactions is submitted in [1].
Cobalt complexes aqueous solutions have pH in the region of 7-8. In this pH region SO2 exists in the SO32- form, that is why as a source of SO2 was taken Na2SO3. Also for optimization of gas cleaning conditions from SO2 was used reaction (1):
2 Nа2SО3 + О2 → 2 Nа2SО4 (1)
Oxidation reaction of sodium sulfite by oxygen in the presence of cobalt complexes, which fixed on polyacrylic acid, was researched by us earlier [2].
There was shown that in interval from 10-3 to 10-2 mole/l rate of Na2SO3 oxidation by oxygen is described with this equation:

It is important to say that in the ultrasound presence formation constant of binuclear cobalt complexes, which fixed on PAA, higher to three order and rate constant higher to one order than when without ultrasound.
