Particularity of professional activity of general practitioners (GP) is determined by several points such as an integration of medical care, focus on the family as a unit of health, priority of preventive activity.

Considering the modern trends in education the department of “Internship on general practice, postgraduate and further education” (Internship on GP, PG and FE) widely use the new technology of care of health and sick children. Strategy of integrated management of childhood illness (IMCI) is based on the target assessment of the child condition. According to “pediatric gold standard” condition of child is estimated by organs and systems. While the target assessment of the child condition means a certain order of action of medical workers to avoid of mortality risk during currently disease and not cause harm to the child, which can lead to death in the future.

Now the center of IMCI works in the department of Internship on GP, PG and FE where our teachers train the general practice interns and also other doctors from the city.

Association with program of World Health Organization the technology of observation of health and sick children was introduced in the training program of GP. It consist from several modules such as “Breastfeeding”, “Nutrition and care in the development of young children”, “Integrated disease management of infants in first two months of life”, “Integrated management of childhood illness in the primary health care”, “Evaluation of physical development and consultation of children with nutrition disorders in the primary health care”. The training is carried out with using of “IKAT” program. GP interns work out their practical skills on care and observation of newborn, clinical management of respiratory disorders, jaundice, bacterial infections. And also interns consult in the Health Child Room where they give advices on feeding and care of children. The clinical case and video demonstration always is used for study.

Thus high technology using in the training of GP could improve the knowledge about health problems of children under five years of age. Conducting of prevention and cure allow to reduce of infant and child mortality, the frequency and severity of child morbidity.
