METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE DEPTH OF GNATHIC PART OF THE LOWER FACE.
Ivanova O.P., Vologina M.V., Fomenko I.V., Timakov I.E.

In the modern diagnosis of anomalies and deformations of dentoalveolar arches there is a parameter as the depth of the gnathic part of the upper face (Dmitrienko S.V. 2012, Ivanova O.P., 2014, Yaradaykina M.N., 2014)

However, the proposed method is relevant to identify relevant parameters of the dental arches of cranio-facial complex only for the upper jaw.

In the available literature, we have not met a stable anatomical landmarks of cranio-facial complex to determine the depth of the gnathic part of lower face.

The aim of our study was to identify the depth of the gnathic part of the lower devision of the face, by individual parameters of the cranio-facial complex.

We carried out measurements of the cranio-facial complex in 150 person, in the first period of mature age, with physiological occlusion. As stable points of reference were chosen ko (kondylare) on the outer edge of the articular head and the point spm (supramentale) as the deepest point of the profile of the front wall of the alveolar part of the mandible.

Gnathic depth of the lower part of the face is mathematically calculated as the height of an isoscele triangle ko-spm-ko, whose base is the distance interarticular ko-ko.

The proposed method can be used in orthodontic practice in the diagnosis of anomalies and deformations of the dental arches, as well as with the prosthetic manipulations in the orthopedic stomatology clinic.
