Historical science

Scientific schools of the Russian province on the turn of XX-XXI centuries: on the example of professor Memetov’s scientific school.
BUDNIK G.A.

In 1991, the Soviet Union collapsed. This has led to fundamental changes not only in economics and politics, but also in science. The methodology of scientific research radically changed. The research process became multivariate. Appeared the interdisciplinary studies. The objects of the study became the professional and social activities, as well as the daily life of different groups of people, many of which were not the object of attention before.

A feature of the country's scientific life has been the emergence of large scientific schools in the province. For example, in 1990 in the city of Ivanovo, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Omsk appeared scientists with new methodological approaches studying the problems of formation and development of the intelligentsia. In the city of Ivanovo, Professor V.S. Memetov was one of the first to study the intelligentsia as a unique social and cultural phenomenon. In his opinion, a sign of the intelligentsia is not only higher education. It has such features as citizenship, patriotism, honesty, decency, compassion, professionalism, etc. These features were the characters of the intelligentsia all around the world in different periods of history. So - it's timeless features of the intelligentsia.

The new paradigm of the study was discussed at the annual scientific meetings in the city of Ivanovo. The provincial town visited by scientists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg and other cities of Russia and foreign countries. A feature of these conferences was that they involved representatives of various branches of science - philosophers, historians, culture experts, political scientists, sociologists. As a result, it began a large development of the intelligentsia issues: expanded geographic and temporal boundaries of the intelligentsia history, comprehended philosophical questions of its existence, studied the features of its social structure, motives, and traits.

Since 2001 in Ivanovo on the initiative of V.S. Memetov and under his editorship a Russian scientific journal "The intelligentsia and the world" has been published. One of the greatest experts on culture, the intelligentsia and the organization of science in Russia
V.L. Soskin, noting the merits of V.S. Memetov wrote: "... the practice has proved once again the great role of personal initiative. In the center of Russia, but not in its capital, a new scientific cell had appeared which became the most active organizer and coordinator of the study of the intelligentsia in the country in recent years..."[1]

Around Professor V.S. Memtov a circle of apprentices and associates was formed, developing the ideas of the scientist. A new direction of the research - «intelligentovedenie» appeared.

We can conclude that at the turn of XX - XXI centuries new scientific ideas were generated not only in the capital cities, the traditional scientific centers, but also in the provinces. And the example of this is a scientific school of Professor V.S. Memetov in the city of Ivanovo.
